Here's My Issues with Pentatonix
This is very specifically about acapella music.
individually every member of pentatonix has an amazing voice
im not dishing on raw talent
my issues are
mad world is beloved by accapella groups, and is a perfect comparison between pentatonix and the wise guys.
#2: i hate this video. its godawful close up shows of faces for 4 minutes. why elaborate further?
#3. i really dont like how affected scott hoying’s (mr. linebacker in the middle) enunciation is. it bugs me because he doesn’t always do it this bad.
i call it the “jesus christ superstar” voice1.
any transition between hoying and kristin tweaks my eardrums in a bad way
#1: i really dont like this modern interpretation of accapella that requires everyone get forty-five seconds of solo
just listen to the sound mix; its always pushing one voice to the front, rather than letting the combined voice do any work. is it because the voices don’t mesh without sound mix intervention?
theyd fall apart without KO. hes the best bass/beatboxer ive ever heard, and hes the only reason their musical chairs version of accapella succeeds imo
here is the wise guys version. its a group effort, not a roundtable. and its a much, much better performance for it
this was all a roundabout way of trying to get you to listen mad world sung by the wise guys.
do you know frission? mad frission!!!
trust me, it’s worth popping on the headphones and giving this a listen!!!
go out tomorrow mornin and watch the dew on the leaves glisten
use the tunes to free your self from that emotional prison
you could bring your partner along and get kissin
maybe do some push-ups, go on. . get chistlin’
basically just choose your own mission
or you could watch the f-ing video and get some frission!
not bad for something i improv-ed right before hitting the publish button, right?
